1. Who we are
HopWeGo BV (in formation), Antwerp, Belgium. We're the data controller for the data described below. Reach us at privacy@hopwego.com.
2. What we collect
- Photos you submit for menu scans. Stored temporarily during processing; retained for up to 30 days for quality review unless you ask us to delete sooner.
- Extracted text from your photos (the OCR output) and the beers Hopster identified.
- Anonymous taste signals — what you liked, skipped, or rejected — tied to a randomized device identifier, not to your real identity.
- Optional account data — if you sign in, your email and an auth provider identifier.
- Form submissions on this website — what you type into our launch signup, venue, or contact forms, plus your user-agent string and the time of submission.
3. What we don't collect
We don't collect your IP address from forms. We don't run analytics or advertising trackers on this website. We don't sell or share data with advertisers.
4. Why we collect it
- To run HopWeGo (the recommendation itself can't work without your photo).
- To improve recognition quality and recommendation accuracy.
- To respond to you when you contact us.
5. Third parties
OCR runs through a managed cloud provider (currently Google Cloud Vision; subject to change). Form submissions are stored in Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud, EU region where available). Both providers act as processors under our instructions.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
You can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export your data, or to restrict or object to processing. We respond within 30 days. To exercise any right, email privacy@hopwego.com from the address you gave us, or use the in-app delete-my-data button (mobile app only).
7. Retention
Photos: up to 30 days after upload. Anonymous taste signals: until you reset them or delete the app. Account data: until you delete your account. Form submissions: up to 24 months unless you ask sooner.
8. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of Belgium. The supervisory authority is the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).
9. Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and bump the date at the top. Material changes will get a more visible notice in the app.
